Geodesic is hiring two founding research engineers to lead our
initial research agenda.

The initial projects on CoT obfuscation will involve:

  1. Creating and iterating on environments where LLMs exhibit reward hacking

  2. Using RL to train model organisms of CoT pathologies (obfuscation, unfaithfulness, etc.)

  3. Communicating these results in a publication standard

Successful candidates may have some of the following:

  • Publications at competitive ML conferences

  • A PhD in a relevant field

  • Experience with RL fine-tuning of LLMs

Successful candidates will have all of the following:

  • High comfort level training and evaluating LLMs

  • A passion for making a safe transition to superintelligence

  • A sense of urgency + agency

Location: Cambridge, UK
Salary: £60,000
Earliest start date: September 2025 (flexible)
Contract: 12 months full-time, with intention to renew.
